Simon Ball

Simon Ball is the partner leading Defendant Insurance Litigation and General Commercial Litigation. He graduated from Leicester University in 1987 with an honours degree in Law with French including a Diplôme D’Etudes Juridiques Francaises in French law from Strasbourg University. He joined PTP in 1992 and since then has worked primarily on behalf of European insurers dealing with their litigation in the UK courts and in Europe. He has written numerous articles in French and English on many aspects of comparative law in relation to insurance and RTA law in Europe and has lectured in the UK and abroad. He has been involved in a number of high profile court actions with an international element including Maher v Groupama (Court of Appeal [2009] EWCA Civ 1191 and Knight v AXA High Court [2009] EWHC 1900 He is recognized as a leader in Chambers Legal Directory: The“extremely personable and hands-on” Simon Ball impresses with his “responsiveness, availability and keenness to search out the most appropriate solution.”

Caroline Davies

Caroline read French and German at Exeter University before qualifying as a solicitor in 2000.  After completing her training contact with Liddell Zurbrugg and then Lorenzo Zurbrugg, Caroline moved to Irwin Mitchell’s International Travel Litigation Group in London.Caroline’s background is largely in personal injury/travel litigation representing both individuals and insurers. Caroline has also acted for Claimants against travel companies in many different jurisdictions.

Lesley Mair

Lesley qualified as a solicitor in 1978 after obtaining an MA in French and German from the University of St Andrews. She worked at the International Secretariat of Amnesty International before returning to private practice specialising in Claimant personal injury work with a leading trade union firm.

Lesley joined the firm in 1995 and is now a Consultant working primarily on behalf of seriously injured claimants. She has been a Member of the Law Society’s Personal Injury Panel since it was founded in 1993 and is an Accredited Senior Litigator of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).

Maud Lepez

Maud Lepez studied law at Assas and La Sorbonne Universities in Paris. She qualified as a French avocat in 2003 and worked in Commercial Litigation and Insurance Litigation in France before relocating to London. She started building her experience in personal injury and road traffic accidents as a claims handler, then qualified as a solicitor in 2010 and joined Pierre Thomas and Partners thereafter. She now deals with a mixed caseload of Claimant and Defendant Personal Injury matters.

Belinda Normandale

Belinda studied Spanish and History of Art at the University of St Andrews before qualifying as a solicitor in 2013. She spent three years working for DAC Beachcroft in their International Team in London, where she worked closely with their Madrid office. Her areas of specialism include accidents in Spain, multi-party accidents and jurisdiction issues. She also has experience of dealing with complex, high value cases including brain injuries. Belinda joined the firm in 2018 and represents both individuals and insurers.

Virginie Medard

Virginie studied law at Westminster University in London and qualified as a solicitor in 2015. She specialises in personal injury claims arising inside and outside England and Wales, including group claims and complex cases involving jurisdictional issues. Virginie joined Pierre Thomas & Partners in 2018 and mainly represents claimants; French is her first language. Virginie has a thoughtful and committed approach to personal injury matters helping clients access the compensation and rehabilitation they need.
